Costa Rica | Los Sueños Resort & Marina

Costa Rica is one of the most popular destinations to visit in Central America. The country is known for its beautiful beaches, amazing wildlife, and breathtaking volcanoes. To kick off our adventure in Costa Rica, we made Los Sueños Resort and Marina our first stop.

Los Sueños Resort and Marina is located on the Herradura Bay, which can be found on the Central Pacific Coast. The 1,100 acre resort did not disappoint, as we were able to begin our trip with lots of adventure, relaxation, and delicious food. Let me tell you more!

The beautiful resort can be found in what is known as the Billfish Capital of the World, only a few quick minutes from Jaco Beach. The 5-Star Resort is the only government sanctioned international marina located in Costa Rica, so fishing is kind of a big deal. The marina houses 200 boat slips filled with boats from all over the world, a true fisherman’s dream.

The resort and marina offer the choice of staying at the Marriott Hotel or one of the 500 condos within the gated community and 600-acre rain forest reserve. During our stay we were able to enjoy the amenities and convenience of a condo.

As a family of four, the condo option was perfect for us. Our condo was very spacious with a full kitchen and living room area that opened to an outdoor patio and private pool.

We spent four full days at the Los Sueños Resort & Marina and we made sure to pack in all the fun! If you are following along in hopes to snag some ideas for an upcoming Costa Rica trip of your own, I’m going to give you a full itinerary below.

Day 1

We arrived at Los Sueños early in the afternoon. Like any first day of vacation, we unpacked our things and set out to explore the resort. Given the resort’s size, we chose to rent a golf-cart for our stay. Day one consisted of swimming in the pools, drinking cocktails, and catching the sunset on the beach. For dinner we enjoyed Bambu Sushi and Asian Cuisine that is conveniently located within the resort. The food was delicious with options to dine indoors or outdoors with a great view of the marina and water.

Day 2

As we became acclimated to the Costa Rican way of life, we spent our second day in paradise enjoying the resort and all it had to offer. To start the day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with made-to-order lattes at Dolce Vita. Once our belly’s were full, we ventured to the Beach Club where we were able to enjoy the pool. The Beach Club is a great hangout that offers poolside food and drink service. It also has a shallow end for your children and a swim-up bar for adults. Our afternoon consisted of walks on the beach and catching waves in the ocean. We dined at The Hook Up Bar Restaurant for lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal at the Lanterna Ristorante Italiano Steakhouse for dinner. It was perfect.

Day 3

Day 3 marked our first official excursion. After breakfast at Dolce Vita, we took a 45-minute boat ride to Tortuga Island. The island was absolutely amazing with so many things to do and enjoy! In fact, I would be selling the island short if I tried to cram all of its awesomeness into a short paragraph. So, I have decided to give it its own post. Read all about it HERE!

Day 4

We kicked off day four on our second excursion at Vista Los Suenos Adventure Park. We spent the morning and early afternoon enjoying the Zip Line Canopy Tour. The tour consisted of a 15 minute tractor ride up the hillside to the first of the 10 zip line cables and 12 platforms. The views were breathtaking. The guides were knowledgeable and made safety a priority. I definitely recommend checking out the adventure park if you are in the area. The park offers a large variety of excursions that can be found on their website.

Day 5

Departure Day. Next up – Arenal Volcano! Pura Vida!
