Creating a DIY Valentine’s Day welcome sign for your front door can be a fun and festive project! Here are some tips to get started:
- Choose your material – wood, metal, plastic, or something else.
- Decide on a design – what colors, shapes, and words will you use?
- Measure the area where the sign will go.
- Cut the material to size.
- Paint or decorate the sign with your design.
- Attach the sign to the wall or door.
With a little creativity and imagination, you can create a one-of-a-kind welcome sign that adds a personal touch to your home. Check out what I created below!

Step 1: Gather Supplies
I chose to create a wooden welcome sign. I was able to purchase all the materials I needed from Walmart. Here is a list of the items I used:
- Wooden Door Plaque
- Fake Greenery
- Wooden Letter & Heart Shape
- Valentine’s Day Ribbon
- Red Paint
- Paint Brush
- Glue Gun
- Scissors
Step 2: Paint
After gathering my supplies, I chose to paint my wooden letter B and heart first to allow plenty of time to dry.

Step 3: Prepare Greenery
If using any type of greenery, you will most likely have to do some cutting and trimming to achieve your desired look. I was able to achieve the look I was going for by cutting one batch of greenery.
Step 4: Create Greenery Bunches
After cutting and trimming greenery, I created two small bunches for my sign. I used the left over stems from the original greenery to tie the two bunches together.

Step 5: Create Bow
There are many different ways to create a bow depending on your preference. HERE is a great tutorial on how to create a bow like the one seen to the left.
Step 6: Glue
Using a glue gun, glue greenery, bow, and wooden pieces to board.

Step 7: Final Touches
After the glue has dried, make any final touches to your welcome sign before hanging it on your door. You may need to trim your ribbon or adjust your greenery. Once you have your sign the way you like it – hang it up for everyone to see!
No matter which design you choose, your DIY Valentine’s Day welcome sign is sure to be a hit!
