“Memories are special moments that tell our story.”
-unknown
As a mother of two, it is no surprise that Mother’s Day Weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year! It warms my heart to see how excited my two girls get when it comes to preparing for Mother’s Day. Little do they know, they are what I’m truly celebrating – the loves of my life – my greatest accomplishments. Although my days of hand-painted & footprint cards are limited – the opportunity to create memories through family experiences remains the same. This year was no exception.

On Friday my husband & I took our girls out of school early to head to The Greenbrier for the weekend. If you have read my blog in the past, you already know that we like to visit the resort often but have yet to do so on Mother’s Day weekend (Read: Wintertime at The Greenbrier). To our surprise we were in for a treat! Keep reading for a recap of our eventful weekend!
The Greenbrier Half Marathon

Our weekend kicked off with The 5th Annual Greenbrier Half Marathon. The race took place on the resort’s 11,000 acre estate. Runners had the opportunity to choose from a 5k, 10k & Half Marathon course all of which were located at the base of the mountains. The rolling hills of the course made it challenging, but the breathtaking views of the mountains and river made it worth it! It was one of the prettiest courses that I’ve run, making it a sure-thing for next year!

Following the race was the Post-Race Champagne Brunch & Band located at the outdoor pool. Runners got to enjoy live music and a delicious brunch with mimosas! Let me tell ya, nothing is better than a mimosa after running – especially when you’ve just finished running rolling hills! Although the brunch was only free to runners, we were able to purchase additional tickets so that our girls and their grandparents were able to join in on the fun!
The Greenbrier Concours d’Elegance

This past weekend marked the 5th Annual Concours d’Elegance. The annual event took place over 3 days and featured some of the finest automobiles throughout history. This year’s event was sponsored by Ferrari of Washington. Over the course of 3 days the event featured The Summit Drive, Cars and Cocktails & a Charitable Dinner to raise funds for The AACA Library and Research Center, the West Virginia Autism Training Center and the First Responders Children’s Foundation.

The feature event – The Concours was held on Sunday. We were able to walk around The Greenbrier’s Front Circle and experience over 100 of the world’s finest cars. This year’s Best in Show Winner of the Concours d’Elegance was Robert Jepson, and his beautiful 1936 HORCH 853A Special Roadster by Erdmann & Rossi. Take a peek at the winner HERE.
Mother’s Day Brunch

Our weekend came to an end with the Mother’s Day Brunch. The brunch had a menu that was absolutely amazing! The dining area was beautifully decorated with fresh floral arrangements and linens. A pianist played soft music to add the perfect amount of ambiance during your meal. The buffet-style menu seemed endless with a fresh fruit & smoothie display and multiple food stations featuring soups, salads, meats & seafood. My personal favorite was the made-to-order waffles & pancakes with fresh fruit toppings! My daughters’ favorite – The Doughnut Wall! I highly recommend this delicious experience for your future Mother’s Day celebration.

The Memories Last Forever

Although the weekend ended sooner than I would have liked – the memories I created with my family will remain with me forever. It is my two daughters that have given me the greatest gift of all time – Motherhood. Thank you my loves – my love for you both is truly unconditional.
To all the other mothers out there…
You are loved. You are appreciated. You are simply amazing.
