As many of you know, nothing excites me more than live music. I popped my concert cherry at 13, and ever since, I’ve been hooked on the chaos of the concert experience. I’ve crisscrossed the map to chase my favorite artists, from tiny hole-in-the-wall venues to large music festivals—each adventure adding fuel to my concert obsession. After what feels like hundreds of concerts, I’ve collected a treasure trove of do’s and don’ts for surviving this wild ride. So buckle up, folks—here are my top tips and absolute must-haves for an unforgettable concert experience that I swear by, or at least until my next ear-ringing adventure!
5 Tips for Concert-Goers
- If you didn’t purchase seats, arrive early—you wouldn’t want to end up sitting behind the world’s tallest person or, worse, a very enthusiastic arm-waver!
- Comfort is key. I know everyone wants to look fabulous for their concert, but let’s be real — if your shoes could star in a horror movie titled “The Night My Feet Died,” it’s time for a rethink! After hours of standing, the last thing you want is to be fumbling to your car like a baby giraffe on ice skates or — heaven forbid — strolling barefoot like a festival caveman. Seriously, I see it all the time, and spoiler alert: those poor souls look miserable!
- Get to know your venue like it’s your weird cousin. Is it an outdoor venue under the sun, or are you going to be blessed by the air-conditioning gods? Are there seats, or will you be grounding in the grass? And what’s the bag policy – is there a size restriction, or are we bringing a purse the size of a snack pouch?
- Charge your electronics. Always bring a backup charger for your devices! Trust me, nothing ruins the vibe at a concert faster than a dead phone.
- Arrange transportation beforehand. Getting in and out of concert venues can be like trying to navigate a labyrinth blindfolded. So, unless you fancy a midnight stroll with the other unprepared concert-goers, it’s wise to map out your escape plan and have your chariot (or rideshare) ready before the first note hits!
In addition to my survival tips, take a peek at the items below that I absolutely can’t live without—trust me, they’re like my secret weapons, but way less dangerous!

- Portable Charger – because your phone shouldn’t be the only one having a meltdown when its battery hits 1%!
- Cell Phone Wallet – the perfect partner for your phone, holding your ID and credit cards, etc.
- Clear Purses – the ultimate sidekick for concerts, where you can fit all your essentials!
- Phone Lanyard – the stylish necklace for your phone that not only keeps it safe from going AWOL.
- Breathalyzer Keychain – Because nothing says “I love live music” quite like checking if you’re fit to drive after rocking out! Keep this little gadget handy and prevent any “oops, I thought I was good to go” moments!
- Portable Fan – Those outdoor venues can be a killer. Keep your cool (literally!) with this pocket-sized superfan. Don’t let the heat transform you into a puddle of sweat!
