Spring is finally here and what better way to commemorate the season than to plan an outdoor picnic! Planning a picnic does not require a lot of prep work, all you need is a few key items and you are quickly on your way to creating a memorable spring afternoon. To help get you started here is a list of everything you may need.
There are few things so pleasant as a picnic eaten in perfect comfort.

Pick A Spot
Picnics are great because you can have them anywhere. People often get caught up in the idea that picnics are meant for parks. This is not the case. Get creative with your picnic and try something new. Here are some of my favorite suggestions for picnic spots: Winery, Lake, Sailboat, Museum, Beach, Nature Center, Mountain, Botanical Garden. If you are a Virginia native or plan to visit the state anytime in the near future HERE is a list of great picnic spots to test out!
Create A Menu
Once you have decided on your picnic spot you will need to create a menu. To keep things simple I like to stick to picnic friendly foods. Some foods that are easy to pack are sandwiches, fruits, raw veggies, dips, cheeses, and crackers. A personal favorite of mine are chicken salad sandwiches. To further help you along the way I have provided the easy go-to recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Chicken Salad Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 4 Chicken Breasts
- 2 Tbsp Dill Relish
- 1/2 Cup Duke’s Real Mayonnaise
- Celery (optional)
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
Boil Chicken for approx 20 minutes or until done. Take out of water and cool. Shred Chicken. Add Dill Relish, Celery (optional), and Duke’s Real Mayonnaise. Mix together and add salt & pepper to taste. Enjoy!
*Add Lettuce & Tomato if desired
It’s Time To Pack It Up

I love that picnic backpack! Makes it so easy to bring everything along to spots other than a park. I’ll have to check out your list of spots next time we are in Virginia too!

We love picnics!! Our favorite way to picnic is at the zoo! We have so much fun in the morning packing up our lunches and then head out to the zoo! Once we get hungry, we pick a spot and love eating the lunch we made as we laugh at people spending $10 for a water bottle 😂😂
